Austin is in the depths of summer, and it’s oh-so-hot outside. Among the many ways to cool off is through a sweet and refreshing agua fresca. The Mexican drink combines fresh fruit, flowers, or even seeds with water and sugar, which means there are so many choices of flavors, such as grain-based horchata, sandía (watermelon), or tamarind.
The best aguas frescas in Austin include classic ones from Veracruz All Natural, the caffeinated version from El Tacorrido, seasonal takes from La Condesa, and boozy ones from Lulu’s.
