Barbecue is practically the official cuisine of Austin, and many, if not most, local barbecue joints rely on traditional preparations of sides like pinto beans, potato salad, and coleslaw to serve alongside carefully-crafted meats. With that, Eater gathered the best places to find barbecue sides in Austin. Some spots, like Stiles Switch BBQ & Brew and Micklethwait Craft Meats, tweak those old favorites to add just a little bit more interest to the barbecue experience. Others, like Salt Lick, offer up the classics. This update adds Kerlin BBQ, Valentina's Tex Mex BBQ, LeRoy & Lewis, and pitmaster John Mueller's new Georgetown home Black Box Barbecue.
For more barbecue needs, there are Austin's best barbecue spots, barbecue heatmap, ribs, sandwiches, desserts, brunches, and much more.
