Acclaimed Austin Southern restaurant Olamaie’s biscuit shop is expanding with a second location next year. Little Ola’s Biscuits will open its next restaurant in the Mueller neighborhood at 1905 Aldrich Street, Suite 110 — the newly vacated Halcyon spot — in early 2025.
Little Ola’s Mueller neighborhood will include its buttermilk biscuit sandwiches both sweet and savory, such as the honey-butter fried chicken, tomato-egg-cheese, peanut butter-raspberry jam, and peach jam-butter. There are a la carte biscuits as well as cinnamon rolls made with biscuit dough. This new space will allow the team — led by Little Ola’s managing partner and pastry chef Jules Stoddart — to offer new dishes too.
Drinks-wise, there will be its house-made lemonades and Arnold Palmers, espresso, and teas. The Mueller cafe also has a liquor license, so expect boozy brunch drinks and full bar access.
Little Ola’s started as a pandemic pivot for Olamaie when the restaurant wasn’t able to safely open for dine-in services in July 2020. Then it opened as a physical location up in Wells Branch a year later. The cafe won Eater Austin’s Eater Award for best pandemic pivot-turned-permanent shop in 2022.
Little Ola’s is under the MaieB Hospitality group, run by founder and executive chef Michael Fojtasek. The company includes downtown Southern restaurant Olamaie, casual MLK neighborhood spot Redbud Ice House, food truck Gimme Burger, and South Congress Hotel restaurant Maie Day.
The previous tenant of the Aldrich Street address was a location of Austin cafe and bar Halcyon, which opened in 2017 and closed in August 2024. Its downtown location remains open.
In related biscuit-related expansions, downtown Austin Southern restaurant Fixe is opening a new cafe in the Arboretum, Hissy Fit, in the fall of 2024, which will include its famed biscuits too.
