Salt Lick’s expanded Austin-Bergstrom International Airport location opened yesterday, according to its Facebook page. The new outpost of the Driftwood barbecue icon, located between gates 12 and 13 (across from the previous spot), provides twice as much space, along with counter and table seating.

The new space should serve the same menu of breakfast tacos and smoked meat in sandwich or plate form. The airport location also offers its rubs, sauces, and whole briskets to-go, for those who can’t travel without barbecue. The new bar is an extension of Salt Lick Cellars, serving largely Texas wines (including its own red and white) and beer. There are also incorporated sangria stations.

The Salt Lick has expanded quite a bit from its original Driftwood location. In addition to the airport and Round Rock locations, there are plans for a Grapevine location, and two serving stands are coming to Darrell K. Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium just in time for football season.

This is the latest in a slew of restaurant openings slated for the airport (construction on the Salt Lick expansion began in February). Salt Lick’s old area will become part of the new East Food Court, which will include Juiceland, The Peached Tortilla, Departure Lounge, Mad Greens, and Berry Austin. Renovations on this section will start this year.
