Salt Lick BBQ Expands to Dallas, and More A.M. Intel

— Salt Lick BBQ is getting bigger by expanding into the Dallas area, opening sometime in late 2018 in Grapevine. It'll include indoor and outdoor seating, a wine bar, and presumably picture-worthy smokers. Salt Lick already has its original location in Driftwood, Round Rock, the food truck at Moontower Saloon, and the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport branch.

— Black Star Co-op shut its doors on Monday, May 1 in honor of May Day, in support of fair labor conditions, joining numerous restaurants across the country.

— Louie Mueller Barbecue is closed today because it's serving barbecue to the lucky Texas State Legislators for the day.

— J.T. Youngblood’s is now slinging fried chicken and pies for dinner. Nighttime service means the restaurant's hours are extended into 9 p.m. daily.

— The Austin Winery opens its tasting room doors this weekend on St. Elmo Road. The winery focuses on creating wines made with grapes sourced from various small vineyards in Texas, California, and elsewhere right on the Austin premises. It'll also serve snacks, like preserves, cheese, jam, marinated vegetables, and more. Tastings are $15 per person and can be pre-booked.

— The only Austin spot that made it to Business Insider's best tacos list was Las Trancas at number 19. It supposedly created the ranking based on Yelp information.

— Washington Post decided that Little Longhorn Saloon is one of the country's few, authentic dive bars, because of the roaring games of chicken shit bingo and long history.

— The TABC closed three Austin bars, La Movida Night Club Bar & Grill, Los Cocodrilos, and Perikos Bar, because the agency found proof of drugs being sold, along with drink solicitation.

— Tex-Mex restaurant Tres Amigos is shuttering its West Slaughter Lane location, and it will become new restaurant DK Maria’s Legendary Tex-Mex in the near future.

— Healthy eating-focused Picnik is now selling its butter coffee in bottles, available at the restaurant and trailer, as well as online. It comes in three flavors, dirty chai, cappuccino, and mocha latte.
